Russia Must Pay for its Unprovoked Aggression
It is not enough merely to freeze Russian State funds held in foreign banks. This money should be used repair the destruction Vladimir Putin has inflicted on Ukraine. Otherwise, all the banks will have done is provide a service to Russia, protecting its foreign reserves when its own currency collapses.
If there is any money left after every apartment building, school, and piece of infrastucture is rebuilt, if there is anything left after every family who has lost a loved one to this barbaric attack, if there is anything left after all the refugees are compensated for their lost income, their pain and suffering, then what is left might be returned. But before then, the Russians must also repay the millions of dollars generously spent by Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and every other nation taking in refugees.
Alternately, if Russia occupies Ukraine and the refugees cannot return home, then the money should be used to help those driven into exile. Whatever the outcome of this war, win, lose, or draw, the Russian state must pay for the absolutely unnecessary destruction and human suffering it has cost.
No cost-free invasion of Ukraine for Russia.
